SpriteDX - New Horizon Work

Yesterday, I posted 4 reddit posts:
| Post | Views | Likes | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monet | 11000 | 44 | 28 |
| Lunamachi | 2200 | 9 | 13 |
| Machi | 748 | 3 | 4 |
| Whiteroom | 660 | 6 | 0 |
So from looking at just the engagement metrics, Monet was the winner. Interesting thing is that Whiteroom was basically Monet with AI agent integration. Monet got all the attention and Whiteroom was basically a slop.
Whiteroom's demo was really half done. It wasn't much of a demo showcasing the full liveliness of the agent. So it is probably different if whiteroom had a more developed demo.
What Monet suggests though that those folks coming into r/aigamedev are mostly interested in tools that generate game assets. They were impressed that you can generate these with consistency.
In that light, I should improve Whiteroom and do another post to different audience. r/aigamedev are folks interested in building games than users.
So then, what should be my work today?
Given yesterday's signal, I will work on modernizing SpriteDX.
First, I will use OpenAI Image2 or Nano Banana Pro for creating 8-directional character references.
Here I generated template. There are quite a bit of empty area, We will deal with that later.
Real looking photos were also generated images from NBP.
Nano Banana Pro yields:
fill in bottom characters
I think this looks great. It has great coherence to style and even the delicate patterns of the blue dress is there.
Alternatively, if people does not provide reference photos, we can use the following template:
on the bottom create a new character
Oh, nice, it created a puppy ๐ถ.
Or we could guide it further.
on the bottom create a new character
Character is Lisa and she is a fairy
Honestly, not a fan of this design, but at least it works.
And from these 5 shots, we can produce things like:
